Clarity was founded in 2020 by two IT leaders who came from large, enterprise environments — and believed managed IT could be so much better. Today we're a team of 15 partnering with growing businesses across the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and Brisbane — plus servicing clients nationally through their office locations around Australia.
Clarity was founded by Brodon Hirst and Drew Pollock — two IT leaders who cut their teeth in large, enterprise environments. Brodon worked in the IT team of a 400+ person law firm; Drew at a university. Both had first-hand experience with enterprise-grade IT solutions and service delivery.
They'd also been on the customer side of several managed service providers — and found the average MSP wanting: thin on cybersecurity, transactional, short on outcome ownership, and largely devoid of proactive, strategic IT leadership backed by good governance.
So they asked a simple question: what if we brought the internal IT team approach to managed IT services?
They threw themselves into the theory in 2020, amid the COVID-19 lockdowns — and it didn't take long for the Clarity approach to gain traction. Growing primarily through word of mouth, Clarity reached 9 staff by 2024, and has since doubled to a team of 15 (2024–2026), now with dedicated sales driving continued growth. Early on, we recognised that IT providers without a genuine cybersecurity specialisation would struggle — so we made a cybersecurity review and gap analysis part of our process, demonstrating real value from the very first conversation.
"We noticed the market commoditising IT services in a race to the bottom," says Brodon. Rather than follow the crowd, we geared Clarity around what actually delivers the best IT outcomes for businesses across Ballina, Lismore, Tweed Heads, the Gold Coast and Brisbane — informed by our years in large, enterprise IT environments.
You know the drill with the average provider: call the offshore call centre, wait on hold for ten minutes, reach a Level 1 tech who can't fix 70% of issues before escalating to a Level 2 who calls back four hours later. Not here. When you call Clarity, you don't get a receptionist logging a ticket — a Level 2 or 3 engineer answers and you're connected directly to them, for market-leading first-call resolution.
Clarity embeds into your business to understand your market, your competitive edge, your risks, your goals and your strategy — then aligns IT to enable your people. Clients lean on us as their IT manager, not just a friendly voice when a computer won't behave. That extends to the strategic IT leadership and governance we bring to SMBs — the kind usually reserved for the enterprise end of town. See our strategy & vCIO work →
A lot of what we do is modelling and understanding risk, then responding in kind. In practice that's patching devices, proactively maintaining your computer, network, server and infrastructure fleets, testing your backups, and providing genuine hands-on support when something goes wrong — addressing IT risk before and after it's realised. This formula has made Clarity genuinely different. Not many competitors offer the same scope of cybersecurity, the same calibre of tech-support team delivering it, or the same degree of IT portfolio ownership, strategy and governance.
