GETTING STARTED

The basics

New to working with a managed IT provider? Start here.

What is managed IT, and what does an MSP actually do?

A managed service provider (MSP) looks after all the technology your business relies on for a predictable monthly fee. Instead of paying by the hour whenever something breaks, you get a whole team proactively monitoring, maintaining, securing and supporting your systems. We handle the day-to-day — help desk, updates, backups, security, new starters — and we plan ahead so problems are prevented rather than just fixed. Think of us as your outsourced IT department, or a partner alongside the one you already have.

What does the free IT Health Check involve?

It's a no-obligation review of your current technology. We sit down with you, look at how your systems are set up, where the risks are, what's costing you money, and where things could run better and safer. You walk away with a clear, plain-English picture of your IT — including any security gaps and quick wins — whether or not you choose to work with us. It usually takes about an hour of your time, and there's no cost and no pressure.

Do you only work with certain industries or business sizes?

We work best with small and mid-sized businesses — typically from around 5 up to 300 staff — across a wide range of industries. What matters more than your sector is that technology is important to how you operate and you want it handled properly. We've supported professional services, trades, not-for-profits, healthcare, retail and more, and we tailor our approach to your world rather than forcing you into a template.

Are you local — and do you come on-site?

Yes. We're a 100% Australian business serving the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and Brisbane, so we're genuinely local to the communities we support. A lot of IT can be handled quickly and securely remotely, which gets you back up and running faster — but when something needs hands on hardware or a face-to-face visit, we come to you. You get the speed of remote support with the reassurance of a local team.

How do I get started?

The easiest first step is a free IT Health Check. Book online through our contact page or call us on 07 5500 0457, and we'll arrange a friendly, no-obligation review of your technology. You'll get a clear picture of where you stand and what could be better — and if it's a good fit, we'll show you exactly what partnering with Clarity looks like. No jargon, no pressure.

SERVICES & SUPPORT

How we work with you

What's included, how it's priced, and how support actually runs day to day.

What's included as standard?

Our managed IT isn't just a help desk. As standard you get proactive monitoring and maintenance, security built in rather than bolted on, managed backups, patching and updates, onboarding and offboarding of staff, and unlimited friendly support. You also get strategic guidance — a virtual CIO (vCIO) relationship — so your technology is planned around your business goals, not just kept ticking over. We'll confirm exactly what's in your plan before you commit.

How much does it cost, and how is it priced?

Most of our managed IT is priced per user (or per device) per month, so your bill scales sensibly as your team grows or shrinks — and you can budget with confidence, with no surprise hourly invoices. The right number depends on your size, your systems and how much you want us to cover. The best way to get an accurate figure is a free IT Health Check, after which we'll give you a clear, itemised proposal with no hidden extras.

Do you lock me into a long contract?

We want you to stay because the service is great, not because you're trapped. We keep our agreements straightforward and we'll always talk you through the terms before you sign anything. If you'd prefer a shorter initial term to build trust, just ask — we're happy to have that conversation. Get in touch and we'll walk you through exactly what a partnership with Clarity looks like.

What are your response times and SLAs?

Every support request is triaged by priority — a full outage that stops your business is treated far more urgently than a minor request. Critical issues get our fastest response, and everyday requests are handled promptly through our help desk. We agree clear service levels with you up front and in writing, so you always know what to expect. Ask us for the specific target times that apply to your plan and we'll set them out clearly.

Do you offer co-managed IT for in-house teams?

Absolutely. Not everyone needs us to run everything. If you already have an internal IT person or team, we can work alongside them — a co-managed model where we take on the heavy lifting like security, after-hours cover, projects and specialist tools, while your people focus on what they do best. It's a great way to add capacity, reduce key-person risk, and give your in-house team the backup they deserve.

How does onboarding — and switching from our current provider — work?

We've moved plenty of clients across, and we make it as smooth and low-stress as possible. We start by getting to know your environment, documenting everything properly (often for the first time), and taking a careful handover so nothing falls through the cracks. We coordinate the transition around your business so day-to-day work keeps running, and we keep you informed at every step. You do the easy part — we do the heavy lifting.

SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

Keeping you safe

Cybersecurity, cloud, AI and where your data lives.

How do you handle cybersecurity — and what happens if we're breached?

We take a layered approach: strong protections across your devices, email, accounts and data, continuous monitoring, and ongoing education so your team can spot threats. Security is included in how we manage your IT, not sold as an afterthought. If the worst happens and you're breached, we move fast to contain it, work to get you back up and running, and guide you through your notification and recovery obligations. Prevention is always cheaper than the cure — which is why we build it in from day one.

What is the Essential Eight?

The Essential Eight is a set of eight practical security strategies recommended by the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) to protect businesses against the most common cyber attacks. It covers things like keeping software patched, restricting admin rights, multi-factor authentication and reliable backups. It's become a widely recognised baseline in Australia, and we can assess where you sit against it and help you lift your maturity in a sensible, prioritised order.

Do you help with cloud migration and Microsoft 365?

Yes — this is one of our specialities. Whether you're moving off an ageing office server, tidying up a messy Microsoft 365 setup, or planning a full move to the cloud, we design, migrate and manage it end to end. We plan migrations carefully to minimise disruption, and we make sure the result is secure, well-backed-up and genuinely easier for your team to use. The goal is less IT friction, not just different infrastructure.

What about AI tools — are they safe to use in our business?

AI can be a genuine productivity boost, but it needs guardrails. The main risks are staff pasting sensitive company or client information into public tools, and trusting outputs without checking them. We help you adopt AI safely — choosing tools with the right privacy and data protections, setting clear policies, and making sure sensitive data stays where it should. Used well and governed properly, AI is an opportunity; used carelessly, it's a risk. We help you get the upside without the exposure.

Is my data kept in Australia?

We're a 100% Australian business and we understand how important data sovereignty is, especially for regulated industries and not-for-profits. Wherever practical we favour Australian-hosted services and data centres, and we'll always be upfront about where your data lives and how it's protected. If keeping data onshore is a firm requirement for you, tell us — we'll design your solution around it and confirm the specifics in writing.
