SuiteFiles not
syncing?

Files aren't showing in SuiteFiles Drive, folders are stuck loading, or the drive won't connect at all. The good news: SuiteFiles rarely "loses" anything — your files live in SharePoint, and most of these problems clear with a fresh sign-in.

Quick answer

Sign out of SuiteFiles Drive and sign back in — this creates a fresh login token, which fixes most "files won't appear" problems. If that doesn't do it, clear the drive cache, fully close and reopen the app, and make sure it's on the latest version. If several people are affected, check the SuiteFiles status page before touching individual PCs.

WHY IT HAPPENS

SuiteFiles doesn't sync — it connects.

This is the key thing to understand. SuiteFiles Drive doesn't copy files down to your PC the way OneDrive does. It's a live connector to the SharePoint site that sits behind your SuiteFiles account, and it pulls each file down only when you open it. So when files "aren't syncing", the real issue is almost always the connection or the local cache — not missing data. The two usual culprits are an expired sign-in token and a stale cache that hasn't refreshed the folder list. Both are quick to reset.

THE FIX

Work through these in order.

  1. Sign out and back inIn SuiteFiles Drive, sign out and then sign back in with your Microsoft 365 work account. This forces a new login token and is the single most reliable fix when folders are empty or won't load.
  2. Clear the drive cacheSuiteFiles Drive keeps a temporary local cache to feel faster. When that cache goes stale, folders can show old or missing contents. Clearing it makes the drive rebuild its file list from SharePoint. It's worth doing this regularly if you work with lots of files.
  3. Fully restart the SuiteFiles Drive appQuit the app completely (don't just close the window — check it isn't still running in the system tray), wait a few seconds, then reopen it. This clears a half-connected session that a simple window-close leaves behind.
  4. Confirm your internet is workingBecause the drive streams files live from SharePoint, a flaky connection looks exactly like a sync failure. Open a website to confirm you're online, and if you're on Wi-Fi or a VPN, try reconnecting it.
  5. Update SuiteFiles DriveOlder versions can lose compatibility with Microsoft 365 sign-in. Make sure you're running the current release — if you're not sure, reinstall the latest version from your SuiteFiles account rather than relying on an old installer.
  6. Check whether it's just youOpen SuiteFiles in a normal web browser and sign in. If your files are all there in the web app, the problem is the desktop drive on your machine. If the web app is also broken, it's an account, Microsoft 365 or service-wide issue.
  7. Check the SuiteFiles status pageIf several staff hit the problem at the same time, look at the official SuiteFiles status page for a reported outage before troubleshooting each PC. The same applies to Microsoft 365 service health, since SuiteFiles relies on SharePoint underneath.
Large folders behaving oddly? SuiteFiles Drive can struggle to display very large folders and isn't built for bulk uploads or moving huge amounts of data. If that's what you're doing, use the SuiteFiles web app instead — and if the drive keeps dropping out for several people, that's the point to bring in your IT provider rather than repeating fixes machine by machine.
DOCUMENTS THAT JUST WORK

Your document system shouldn't slow the firm down.

SuiteFiles sits on top of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 — so when it plays up, the cause is often in the setup underneath. Our free IT Health Check reviews how SuiteFiles, SharePoint, sign-in and your devices are configured, and shows you exactly what to fix so your team stops losing time hunting for files.
