Can't sign in
to MYOB?

Your MYOB login won't go through, the two-factor code keeps getting rejected, or you're being kicked out with a "session expired" message. It's frustrating when the numbers won't add up because you can't even get in. Work through these fixes and you'll usually be back in quickly.

Quick answer

A "session expired" message usually just means MYOB signed you out and needs a fresh login — clear your browser cache (or use a private window) and sign in again. If your password won't work, use the reset link. If the two-factor code is rejected, check you're using the right app or email and that your phone's clock is correct. Still stuck? Check MYOB's status page in case it's their end.

WHY IT HAPPENS

Nearly always the login, not your file.

Signing in to MYOB uses your online my.MYOB account — an email address, a password and a two-factor code. Most sign-in trouble comes from one of those three: a stale login saved in your browser (which triggers "session expired"), a forgotten or changed password, or a two-factor code that's expired or coming from the wrong app. Occasionally it really is MYOB having a wobble, which is why one of the steps below is simply to check their status page.

HOW TO FIX IT

Work through these in order.

  1. Clear the browser cache and sign in freshA stale saved session is the usual cause of "session expired". Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or open a private / incognito window, then go to the MYOB sign-in page and log in again. This alone fixes most session errors.
  2. Check you're using the right MYOB accountMany people have more than one email tied to MYOB — a personal one and a work one, or an old address from a previous job. Make sure you're signing in with the exact email your business file is attached to. If in doubt, whoever administers your MYOB subscription can confirm which address it should be.
  3. Reset your passwordIf the password keeps being rejected, don't keep guessing — accounts lock after a few failed attempts. Use the "Forgot password" / reset link on the sign-in page, or reset it from your My Account security settings, and follow the email MYOB sends to set a new one.
  4. Fix the two-factor (2FA) codeIf your code is refused, make sure you're reading it from the correct authenticator app or email for this account, and that it hasn't expired — app codes only last around 30 seconds. If your phone's clock is wrong, app codes fail, so set the time to update automatically.
  5. Use another 2FA method or a recovery codeIf you've set up more than one method, choose "try another method" at the prompt. If you saved recovery codes when you first set up two-factor, you can enter one of those to get in. Keep any spare recovery codes somewhere safe for next time.
  6. Check MYOB's service statusIf several people can't sign in at once, it may be MYOB's end, not yours. Check MYOB's official status page before spending time troubleshooting individual machines — if there's an outage listed, the fix is simply to wait it out.
  7. Contact MYOB support to reset your accessIf you've lost access to your email or 2FA device and recovery codes won't help, MYOB support can verify who you are and reset your password or two-factor method. That's the safe way through when you're genuinely locked out.
Locked out of more than just MYOB? — if sign-in and two-factor problems keep tripping up your team across MYOB, Microsoft 365 and other apps, the real issue is usually how accounts, passwords and MFA are managed across the business. Getting that set up properly stops these lockouts becoming a weekly interruption.
