Quick answer
Close the extra matter windows and browser tabs you don't need, then fully restart LEAP and your PC. If you use LEAP in a web browser, clear the cache and cookies. Check you have a stable internet connection, then run LEAP Menu → About → Check for Updates. If the whole firm is affected at once, check LEAP's official status page before touching individual machines.
WHY IT HAPPENS
LEAP is live — so the network matters.
LEAP is a cloud application. Whether you open it through the desktop companion or a web browser, it's constantly talking to LEAP's servers, so anything that slows that conversation — a shaky internet connection, high latency, or a wireless dead-spot in the office — shows up as lag. On top of that, cached data quietly builds up over weeks of use, dozens of open matter windows eat memory, and a pending LEAP or Windows update can leave the app running on old, slow code. Individually they're minor; together they grind LEAP to a halt.
THE FIX
Work through these in order.
- Close what you don't needEach open matter window and each browser tab holds live data in memory. If you've got a dozen matters and twenty tabs open, close the ones you're not actively using — this alone often frees LEAP up straight away.
- Restart LEAP, then restart the PCFully close LEAP (not just minimise it) and reopen it. If it's still sluggish, restart Windows. A clean restart clears temporary glitches, releases memory and lets any half-finished updates apply.
- Clear the cache if you use LEAP in a browserSlow loading or a blank screen in the browser version is usually stale cached data. Clear your browser's cache and cookies (in Chrome or Edge: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data), then sign back in to LEAP.
- Check your internet connectionA stable connection is essential for LEAP. Test a couple of other websites, and if you're on Wi-Fi try moving closer to the access point or switching to a wired connection. Persistent slowness across the office points to your internet service or network rather than LEAP itself.
- Update the LEAP desktop appOpen LEAP Menu → About → Check for Updates and install anything offered. LEAP releases regular updates that include performance and stability fixes, and running an old version is a common cause of sluggishness.
- Install Windows updates and free up disk spaceMake sure Windows is fully up to date, and keep a healthy amount of free storage on the drive (LEAP recommends leaving room to spare). A near-full disk slows the whole machine, LEAP included.
- Check whether it's just you — or LEAPAsk a colleague on the same network if they have the same problem. If it's firm-wide and started suddenly, check LEAP's official status page to see whether it's a service-side issue. If it's only you, the fixes above will almost always sort it.
Handy to know: if LEAP is slow for one person, it's usually that device or its cache. If it's slow for everyone every afternoon, or LEAP keeps loading blank screens across the firm, the real bottleneck is often the office internet connection, an overloaded Wi-Fi setup, or old hardware — the kind of thing worth measuring and fixing at the source rather than restarting every day.
